Shirdi Sai Baba

About Shirdi Sai Baba.

One's again hello everyone. I am back with some more interesting  facts about mythology. I hope that u have enjoyed reading the previous post of my blog. Today I am sharing some teachings and interesting facts about Sai Baba "the guru".

Sai Baba is a teacher "Guru", a saint who as showed people a better way to live life by his teachings.

                                  Om Sai Ram

His teachings:

1. Shraddha and Saboori - Have Faith and patience.

Shraddha, or love, faith and truth, is generated out of the conviction that may arise from spiritual inspiration. According to Sai Baba, love in God is the gateway to eternity. Even Sri Krishan told Arjuna: "Whosoever offers to Me with love or devotion, a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, that offering of pure love is readily accepted by Me".

Saburi, or patience or perseverance, is an important quality that anyone walking the path of salvation would need. Without Saburi, a seeker may leave the path mod way.

2. Sab ka malik ek- The God is One.

Sabka malik ek means any person belongs to any caste that does not matter. The god is one and only one.we all believe in our god such as if you are jain you may believe in god mahavir swami. If you are hindu you may believe in lord rama, krishna, shiva etc.If you are muslim then you may believe in allah. But we have seperated god,but they all are same.we should not fight on the name of god and caste

Now let's see some interesting facts about Sai Baba

1. Sai's  Naming.

Sai Baba's real name remains unknown. The name Sai was given to him by Mahalsapati when he arrived at Shirdi, a town now in the west Indian state of Maharashtra. The word Sai refers to a religious mendicant but can also mean God. In several Indian and Middle Eastern languages the term Baba is an honorific signifying grandfather, father, old man or sir. Thus Sai Baba denotes "holy father", "saintly father" or (venerable) poor old man.

2. Sai saved Shirdi from pandemic.

At the time of Spanish flu, Shirdi Sai Baba used to guide people of Shirdi for their problems.  Baba started grinding wheat floor himself. Devotees were in great surprise, when Baba lives on alms, why did he feel need to grind wheat floor? But, nobody had courage to ask questions to Baba. They simply observed what Baba is doing. But, when Baba was grinding wheat tirelessly, few ladies asked to do that task themselves.
Soon, by singing Baba’s songs (Bhajan’s), they completed the task. Baba had also started smiling by that time.  After some time, Baba asked them make a boundary around the Shirdi with that floor. It was difficult to understand Baba’s intentions.
When people still believe superstitions, definitely a century ago, people used to trust that there is a evil power. A line with a wheat flour was used in occult practices, nobody used to cross it. When boundary of that wheat flour was present all around the Shirdi, nobody from outside entered Shirdi. And that’s how, a century ago, with the help of social distancing, Baba saved Shirdi from pandemic.

3. Sai day ( Thursday)

In Sanskrit, Thursday is known as Brihaspati var or Guru var, which means it is the day dedicated to a teacher (Guru in Sanskrit). Brihaspati is a teacher of all gods. This shows the profoundness of Sanatana Dharma, even a god should learn from the teacher. Sanatana Dharma pays huge respect to a teacher, the backbone of this dharma is Guru - Shisya sampradaya (student-teacher relation). In this dharma, the names of the weekdays are related to planets. Thursday is based on the Guru Graha. So from time immemorial, we worship gurus on this day. Sai baba is worshipped more as a teacher than a god. In his entire life span, he never declared himself as a god. There are several instances in his life where he guided his devotees and made them to progress in a spiritual process. Therefore, the Saibaba temple have special worship on Thursday.

4. Sai's Neem Tree.

Shri Sai Baba was first seen in Shirdi sitting under the Neem tree when he was just 16 years old. The people of the village were wonder-struck to see such a young lad practicing hard penance, not minding heat and cold. He went to nobody's door, but always sat near the neem tree. Young 'Sai Baba' (even this title was not conferred on him by that time) stayed under the neem tree for about three years but suddenly left Shirdi. No one knew where he went or why. After a year or so, he again returned to Shirdi and stayed on there till his mahasamadhi in 1918 i.e., for sixty years. Baba told the villagers that under the Neem tree was His Guru's Samadhi (shrine). Once people started digging near the Neem tree.
After digging down 5 feet, the villagers found Bricks underneath a flat stone.
They removed the flat stone and saw a corridor that led to a cellar having cow-mouth-shaped wooden structures,
wooden boards, necklaces and 4 brightly burning Lamps. Then the people began to question the young boy about this. He put them off by telling them that
it was His Guru’s resting place (Samadhi-Sthana), His holy place (sthatana) and requested them to guard it well.

5. Sai  Samadhi - Sai Shrine.

Ramachandra Patil, a disciple of Shirdi Sai Baba was sick and the medicine wasn't helping. he was very tired and was anticipating death. One night he saw his guru in a dream standing near his bed, he begged him "Dear Guru! I have no desire on Life, please tell me when will I die?"

Baba replied "Don't be afraid, you will get better soon, but I'm worried about Tatya. He will die on the coming VijayaDashami day. Don't till this to him".Patil got better soon, but he was worried that Tatya will die very soon. As the VijayaDashami day approached Tatya got sick and his health kept deteriorating. Sai Baba's health also deteriorated as the Vijayadashami approached. Tatya was very sick, everyone thought he would definitely die soon. But a strange thing happened, Baba left body and Tatya lived. Great Guru had taken his disciple's Karma on himself. It is interesting to know that the day Sai Baba took samadhi on that day 3 festivals was celebrated Dusshera, Muharram and Guru Nanak Jayanti.
